Study of Temporal Variations in Species–Environment Association through an Innovative Multivariate Method: MixSTATICO

The study of biotic and abiotic factors their interrelationships is essential in the preservation sustainable marine ecosystems for understanding impact that climate change can have on different species. For instance, phytoplankton are extremely vulnerable to environmental changes thus studying involved important species’ conservation. This work examines relationship between parameters eastern equatorial Pacific, known as one most biologically rich regions world. this purpose, a new multivariate method called MixSTATICO has been developed, allowing mixed-type data structured two groups (environment species) be related measured space–time scale. results obtained show how seasons an species–environment relations, with significant association occurring November weakest during month May (change season). species Lauderia borealis, Chaetoceros didymus Gyrodinium sp. were not observed coastal profiles dry season at stations, while rainy season, Dactyliosolen antarcticus, Proboscia alata Skeletonema costatum detected. Using MixSTATICO, specific geographical locations variations identified, making it possible establish biological indicators region.
